Jieun Park

Jieun Park is a South Korean pianist whose artistry and depth have been shaped by a rigorous musical education and a distinguished performance career. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at the Yale School of Music, where she also earned her Master of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees under the tutelage of Robert Blocker. Park holds a Bachelor of Music, summa cum laude, from Seoul National University, following her early studies at Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School, two of Korea’s most prestigious pre-college music institutions.

Park has appeared in solo and chamber music performances across South Korea, Europe, and the United States. Her recent highlights include performances at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and the Tampa Steinway Gallery, as well as multiple appearances as a soloist and chamber musician at Yale School of Music concerts and President’s House Concerts. She was also featured in the Yale Chamber Music Competition Winners Concert, which led to a performance in New York as part of the Yale Concert Series.

A laureate of over 40 national and international competitions, including First Prizes at the Delia Steinberg International Piano Competition and Orbetello International Piano Competition, among others. She was a semifinalist at the 63rd Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious piano competitions.

Park has participated in masterclasses with a wide array of internationally renowned pianists and pedagogues, including Olivier Gardon, Olga Kern, Pascal Roge, Sergei Babayan, Ursula Oppens, and Yoheved Kaplinsky, which have greatly enriched her musical insight and versatility. Her summer studies include the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and the Académie Internationale d’Été de Nice.

She is a recipient of numerous scholarships and fellowships, including support from the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation, Stephen & Denise Adams Fellowship, Mary Clapp Howell Scholarship, Maxwell M Belding Scholarship, and the Musical Club of Hartford Evelyn Bonar Storrs Piano Scholarship.

In addition to her performance activities, Park is passionate about teaching and music outreach. She is serving as a secondary lesson instructor at Yale. She also contributes as a concert program editor for the Yale School of Music and actively participates in community-based volunteer concerts.
